Marrakesh Film Festival 2012

The celebratory event was put together for the 12th year running, which not only recognised and rewarded Moroccan cinema, however, praised much of Hindi cinema with screenings of films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Don, Agneepath and other such classics. Many celebrities from tinsel town fled to Northwest Africa to be a part of this multicultural film festival, and as always its interesting to see what they wore and who got the award for 'best dressed' right here!

Fashion at the Festival

I think it's fair to start with the legend of Bollywood, as he is one of greatest actors of all time in our Hindi fraternity! Representing the industry, Amitabh Bachchan graced the film festivals red carpet in a very elegant and smart maroon coloured blazer jacket, with a subtle shimmer added to bring out the richness to the outfit. Dark colours such as burgundy, black and maroon suit Big B tremendously well, and he has chosen a sensational outfit right here. He shines out magnificently.

Malaika Arora Khan was seen sporting the traditional look, with her bottle green and pale beige lengha. I'm happy to see her finally dressed in something a bit more appropriate, and 'full length' (quite surprised!) The added details of a jhumka hair piece bring the whole moghul-eastern look together. This Manish Malhotra piece speaks out 'Bollywood' and is a perfect choice for representing the fraternity at the Moroccan festival.

The new hero has already gone on his first major award function expeditions! That's right, Siddarth was invited to the film festival for the screening of Karan Johar's Student of the Year, and with its success he has on tracks to becoming a superstar! Lets hope we see more of him next year..for now, however, Siddarth is adorned in a rich maroon velvet empire coat with black trousers, very very smart! Doesn't he look ever so handsome? Seems like maroon is the favourite colour for the men in Bollywood, good choice!

In my opinion, this lady right here looks phenomenal!! Sridevi not only looks incredibly good for her age, yet the outfit suits her graciously well. Love it! Manish Malhotra always brings in so much fluid and definition with the use of so much fabric, and this lengha does not fail to disappoint either. The infused colours of red and black bring out a real authentic look, and the style is a fantastic representation of Indian designs. Love her earrings too!

My focus in this picture goes entirely towards Mehr, and the unusual outfit she is wearing. Whilst Arjun is standing in plain black head to toe, Mehr is wearing a sensational Tarun Tahiliani outfit. She looks beautiful in this picture, standing tall and elegantly in a draped high-low lengha. The unconventional style, zig-zagged print, without hardly any other embellishments looks simply divine. The incorporation of western and eastern trends has been incorporated well, and I think she manages to pull off the outfit incredibly.

Next up we have the Baadshah of Bollywood himself, representing the film industry in a simple black tuxedo and a touch of colour in the bow-tie. Again it's maroon!! Definitely a trending colour for these men right now. As much as I think he looks great in this picture, I still don't think he looks dashingly different. Maybe going for a different colour jacket of brocade fabric may have been somewhat more enriching. But nonetheless, Shah Rukh is a star in anything he wears!

Wherever this couple turn up they manage to get heads turning because they look fantastic together! Hrithik with his Greek-God type features has swept his hair straight back, which gives a very edgy and sleek look! Other than this the suit with a nicely tied up waistcoat looks great on him! Speaking more for Suzanne, however, the cream colour Anarkali is not really my cup of tea! I absolutely adore the style, but it seems too bland for such a magnificent event. Also the clutch in hand? whats that all about? It seriously does not go, bad choice of colour there!

This young lady is slowly paving her way into B-Town, and her performances in former films have all been a delight to watch. As much as some of you may think Kalki is rather stylish, I disagree with you in this point of time! I love the outfit, as the style is incredibly unique! But it's just so not fitting for Kalki! I see her more of a fluorescent coloured chick, who immerses herself in print, and this type of outfits only makes her appear too bland! The intricate details around the neck and scarf are minimalistic and perfect, but I don't think this outfit was for your dear, neither is the decorative headpiece for that matter

The ultimate winner for me this time round has to be Sridevi, who looks outstanding and carries herself with so much poise in a Manish Malhotra outfit! But who do you think wore their outfit best? Whatever your judgment call is, don't be biased towards your favourite hero/heroine!!
