He's played an angry villain in Don and obsessive lover in the psychological thriller Darr, amongst the many, however, the King of Bollywood is particularly well known for his romantic avatars and has been associated with some of the finest love sagas! On Valentines, what better way to spend it then looking at Shah Rukh's best of the best romantic movies that will make you fall in love all over again...
1. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) 1995
It was in one of his earliest of films that 'Shah Rukh Khan' became a brand-name in itself that endorsed everything about love! DDLJ is a timeless Aditya Chopra classic that does exactly what it says in the title...'the brave-hearted will take the bride away'. It's a story that proves love as an expression has the power to unite not only two souls deeply in love, but brings together families and friends too!
2. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 1998
Karan Johar's directorial debut of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai remains a film that we love all the same today! Shah Rukh Khan's role as Rahul grasped much attention as ladies world-over all wanted a piece of him, and was an overall film that makes you want to believe in 'love' whether or not you have ever experienced it. It's a feeling you just can't help, and Shah Rukh Khan proved yet again that love conquers all!
3. Devdas 2002
An epic love saga by the versatile Sanjay Leela Bhansali is another exceptional film that defines 'true love' like no other! Valentines isn't just about 'celebrating' with loved ones, but is also about loving someone 'eternally', although you may be far away from them! Shah Rukh's acting as Devdas is highly commendable till today, and his portrayal of a man dying without the love of his life was realistically phenomenal.
4. Veer Zaara 2004
The King of Romance- Yash Chopra gave us one of the most beautiful and romantic love-tales in the film Veer Zaara, undoubtedly one of the finest love films he made! There's no denying the chemistry shared between Shah Rukh and Preity is fantastic, however, the story of two different religions in love is what makes one believe in the notion that 'love truly crosses all boundaries', which has the capacity to overcome differences in caste and build stronger, unified bonds!
5. Rab Ne Bana di Jodi 2008
Lastly, to make it my list is another Aditya Chopra romantic film starring the very beautiful Anushka Sharma and King Khan himself! Rab Ne Bana di Jodi was a film that proved opposites attract! Shah Rukh's role as Surinder, an ever so simple guy ends up falling in love with the charismatic Taani! Whilst she does everything possible to avoid him and believes she cannot fall in love again since loosing her previous lover, Surinder's very loveable and charming nature just happens to make Taani fall in love with him too!
Love isn't about being all fancy, proving your love for one day, or buying a bunch of roses! Love is a totally subjective feeling, in which all the former SRK films have proven that love will always be the purest emotion you will ever feel! So on this Valentines, love your 'someone' special in your own unique ways, and if your looking to fall in love this Feb 14th go grab these movies above and let Shah Rukh Khan do the rest...
Happy Valentines readers!
