Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was crowned the former Miss World in 1994, which helped launch her career in acting thereafter. As a result of her unusual good looks, charisma and sex appeal, Aishwarya went onto becoming the nations favourite actress in no time, tagged as the most attractive beauty of Bollywood for almost a decade on, since her humble beginnings.
Today, however, the tables have turned considerably! Since marrying veteran star Abhishek Bachchan, and since having their first child together last year, Aishwarya, like any other female gained the pounds, looking a lot fuller than before! This very natural change in her body, however, led to her image in the public eye of the media being heavily scrutinised. Aishwarya was no longer symbolised as the epitome beauty, and was labelled quite the contrary!

When actresses of today, including Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha can be accepted by the fraternity and their audiences for the curvaceous figures, then why is Aishwarya not accepted for her curves today? I don't seem to understand why the media are forever concerned with her weight issues, when it's of little concern to herself! Vidya Balan very proudly flaunted her curves in the commercial hit The Dirty Picture, and if anything her image as the 'plump siren' of B-Town has been accepted incredibly well. Sonakshi Sinha too, who is significantly younger than both Aishwarya and Vidya, has gone on to becoming one of the most successful contemporaries of the fraternity today, despite not being the archetype 'hot bod'.
If rumours are true that Aishwarya is being asked to reduce her weight for a comeback in 2013, then I do hope they remain untrue! No women in the industry should be judged in accordance to their size, and neither should Aishwarya have to change herself to be accepted in a day and age when other curvaceous women in the industry are doing perfectly well!
