It's highly contested and debatable as to whether singer turned actor should be on the big screen, but there's no stopping him from making another appearance in the next release this Friday- Khiladi 786. That's right guys, despite the failure of his former films including Aap Ka Suroor and Karz (the remake), Himesh is back in Ashish Mohan's next!
Now lets face it, Himesh is a good singer (not great), a little high pitched at times, and may sound as if he sings through his nose- but either way that's his style, and its important to recognise that he has paved his way into the industry as such. He did well in bringing the music together for Namastey London, Tere Naam and Aashiq Banaya Aapne, however, he then went down the route of repeating the same type of melodies in other film releases, that his music began to sound somewhat monotonously tedious!
Next thing you know, he decided to debut into a film!! Like seriously...what are you doing? In 2007 he starred in Aap Ka Suroor, which as much as it was claimed a 'hit', there is no way Himesh could be recognised as an 'actor' who can act! Playing the character named HR in the film (the irony), he failed to play the role of a rock star, charged of murdering a TV journalist. In fact it was that bad, I didn't expect to see Himesh appear in a film again. But no, a year later in 2008 he is seen in the remake of the original Karz only to play a rock star again! Another serious film, means more lack lustre of emotions and expressions in the film, which only means one thing: Himesh disappoints yet again!
Whatever flaws there maybe, be prepared to see the expressionless actor back on screen. Lucky for viewers like myself, we won't have to see him playing a major role! On the other hand, however, be prepared to see Himesh play a comic role! Lets hope he proves himself this time round to at least be recognised as a comedian!!
I was going to say rely on the music of the film that Himesh has composed too. But he sadly mixes in melodies from his former compositions in Namastey London (Teri yaad saath hai), and copies music from Chris Brown's Turn up the Music for the song Hookah Bar. This brings me to question whether Himesh should give up acting for good, and concentrate solely on his music career? At least this way he can compose something 'original'!
